WELCOME TO THE SAED WEBSITE!

The Scandinavian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (SAED) was founded in Copenhagen in 1996 with the desire to form an Inter-Nordic (Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland), inter disciplinary Academy to promote and educate esthetic dentistry to both the general public and the profession. ....more about us

Purpose

The mission of the academy is to stimulate and promote clinical excellence in all types of dental treatment. It is not easy to measure or find scientific articles defining “excellence”. The Academy’s most important mission is to search for facts and lecturers describing how to perform treatment with the aim of reaching superior results, and share this information among us. In doing so, the Academy values esthetics as a natural part of restorative treatment but also if results are long term and as little invasive as possible. The ethics of treatment shall always be a natural judging factor when describing and promoting these items. In the Academy we will communicate and discuss techniques and materials in order to develop ourselves as clinicians and our treatment measures for the benefit of our patients.

SAED Plans for 2010

Ivoclar Vivadent has invited us to visit their headquarters in Liechtenstein in February. The board of the SAED has, after careful consideration and in-depth discussions decided to decline the offer. The main reason is that the date collides with the Chicago Midwinter Meeting. For the future, the Academy also needs to set standards and principles for how to and when to accept invitations from commercial bodies on the dental market. We all agree that the unquestionable integrity of the Academy is of utmost importance.

For our traditional August meeting, Finland will be the venue. We were happy to see Finish colleagues joining us in Bergen and it is my firm ambition to welcome new members from Finland into the Academy. This will be much easier with a congress held in Finland. August 27-29 2010 the Board of the SAED will welcome you all to Nådendal, just outside Turkku. Plans are still preliminary, but we will stay at The Nådendal Spa Hotel (http://www.naantalispa.fi:80/), a venue offering excellent facilities for the meeting and for accomodation
